Prospective Graduate Student Fair

The Prospective Graduate Student Fair is a meet-and-greet event intended to support those considering graduate training in music, music theory, musicology, ethnomusicology, or related fields. The fair is an opportunity for prospective graduate students to meet with representatives of graduate departments to learn more about their degree programs, resources and curricula.

The Prospective Graduate Student Fair will take place as part of the 2026 AMS Annual Meeting to be held online. The fair is scheduled for Sunday, 15 November 2026, 2:00–3:00 p.m. EST.

Department/Program Representatives

Departments and programs wishing to participate in the Prospective Graduate Student Fair are invited to reserve a virtual booth to showcase their degree programs and other offerings. The deadline for reserving a table is 15 October 2026, 11:59 p.m. EST. Participation in the Prospective Graduate Student Fair is free to both students and departments. Department representatives are expected to register for the conference. (NOTE: Faculty or other institutional employees who are already registered to attend the conference may be designated as representatives for the purpose of this event).

Prospective Graduate Students

Prospective graduate students who are registered for the annual meeting may attend the Prospective Graduate Student Fair through the conference portal. Students who are not registered for the annual meeting may register to attend the Fair and a limited number of public events by completing our public attendee registration form.

Universities or departments wishing to support their students and promote attendance of the Prospective Graduate Student Fair are encouraged to sponsor or subsidize a student group registration. Student group registrations provide a small discount off the student member registration rate, regardless of the membership status of the student. They are a great way to support both graduate and undergraduate students who are exploring or pursuing careers in music studies. They provide a valuable cohort experience that makes attending a large disciplinary conference far less daunting, while also providing students with unprecedented exposure to a wide array of perspectives and subfields in music studies.
